This is part of a collection of some 545 archival photographs
of my home town Grand Forks, BC Canada.
As a winter project, I have scanned, edited, filed and retouched
each image for our local museum.
Grand Forks had it's beginning around 1898 when gold, silver,
copper and nickel were discovered in the near by mountains.
This discovery lead to the building of our town and several others around us.
In this set you will see early landscapes, buildings, people and the
world famous Granby Smelter that our town was built around.
The Granby operations existed from 1898 to 1913 when WW1 broke out,
the company went bankrupt yet left us a legacy and money to rebuild
this delightful community we still call . . . "Grand Forks".
all photo credits go to the early photographers and the Boundary Museum.
